Thursday the 29th was, I think, maybe the best day of the year in regard to the paddling conditions! (check the pics!) We had totally smooth, crystal clear waters and the awesome warmth of the Autumn sun. It just could not get any better on the Merimbula Lake! We will have morning sessions running over the entire Easter weekend and then it's full steam ahead into the school holidays!
See you in Merimbula!
Autumn certainly is a fantastic time to be alive in Merimbula! During Autumn we can experience periods of absolutely perfect weather and don't forget the water is nice and warm as well! It is an exciting time and can be very busy in the Merimbula area with school holidays and the Easter long weekend. It is the perfect opportunity to book a stand up paddle session with us and make the most of the great weather before winter kicks in. So if you are coming to Merimbula for the school holidays, make sure you give us a call! We would love you to come and SUP Merimbula with us. Check out some of the pics from our recent sessions.
Have a good one!
Have you ever been out on the water and experienced a complete glass off? What I mean by glass off is this, completely smooth water without a ripple on it. Well if you haven't, picture this. You are paddling on a crystal clear estuary with a very light wind blowing. The sun is shining on the water, you're totally in the present moment without a care in the world and everything in life for that moment is about as good as it can get. All of a sudden the little bit of wind that was blowing totally drops off. The surface of the water turns into a complete sheet of glass without any disturbance of any kind on the surface. As you look down, it almost appears as if there is no water under you at all, it is so clear it is almost invisible. It feels like you are just hanging there, suspended a few metres above the estuary floor. At this point the visibility is as good as it gets and you can see even the smallest features on the estuary floor. All of your senses are heightened to an amazing new level. For those of you who have experienced this, you will know what I'm talking about. Every time I experience this it is just as good as the time before. I experienced it yesterday, and for half an hour or so, everything in the world stood still. This is why SUP is so damn addictive!
I love spending time with our SUP beginners on the water. I absolutely get blown away every time somebody comes along who claims to have balance issues and we manage to get them up and paddling without any issues. The buzz from watching people overcome their fears and to be part of the experience is fantastic! Sometimes I get a student who has very low self confidence. I thrive on spending extended time with these people and making the experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Nothing can compare to watching a beginner who is not very confident, step off their board at the end of the session saying "I Did It" with the biggest smile on their face.
We have been having some amazing SUP sessions on the Lake so far this season! January and February are looking fantastic as well. At this point the weather experts are predicting quite a wet humid summer. This can be very good for SUP because humid overcast conditions can mean light winds! I have my fingers crossed!
